Southern Italy - A Rick Steves Tour
Vieste
The Journey
The bus ride to the Adriatic was a few hours from Tivoli. There were spectacular views out the window and the drive was broken up by a lunch stop at the AutoGrill. The Grill was a pleasant surprise - THINK DINING, NOT REST STOP; but I must remember, I’m in Italy and they love and enjoy their food – it’s an occasion to chat with friends, relax and not just eat.
I could learn so much, maybe I could stay here?
Once we reached the Adriatic Sea the bus turned south and followed the coast to Vieste – again lots of eye candy. We were met on the edge of town where our bags were transferred to the hotel and we walked up the alleys to our accommodation for the next two nights. Our white washed hotel hung on the cliff with gorgeous views. We had a few hours to explore the town before congregating at the hotel for dinner. I'm off, there is a sunset to catch!
